A son stolen. A Queen desperate. A deadly gamble in a game of thrones. Penned by local playwright Annie Bilton, Elizabeth & Grace is a gripping historical drama that brings to life the true events surrounding the English capture of the son of Grace O’Malley, chieftain of the O’Malley clan of West Ireland. Grace travels to England to petition Queen Elizabeth I herself, for his release. What really happened when these two formidable women came face-to-face, with pride, blood, wealth and sovereignty at stake? Bilton has imagined an intense political and personal intrigue played out by powerful characters with everything to lose.

UP are excited to launch our Young Writers Search! We are seeking submissions from young writers (18 and under) of monologues, short plays and plays before 15 September. Selected pieces will be performed in our November and January play readings. We encourage submissions of “works-in-progress” and are happy to provide feedback. We want to provide young writers with an opportunity to be part of the process of working with a director and actors to workshop their writing, and learn how to use this process to improve their own writing.
We are asking for submissions to be sent in PDF format to firstname.lastname@example.org. Some proof of age will be required prior to selection of pieces for staged readings.
